Hello Everyone,

I have received an email from Kathie Balogh, NW Area Secretary, regarding the upcoming elections for our NW Area.  This year we will be electing officers for Vice President (2 positions), Treasurer (1 position) and Nominating Committee (5 positions).  The Vice President and Treasurer positions are for two-year terms and the Nominating Committee positions are for a one year term.

Anyone from our Club, in good standing, may run for any of these offices.  The suggested resume format and consent form are on the fmcanw.org webpage.  Interested persons should complete their forms and send them to Beth Harrington, no later than April 15, 2012.  Beth's email address is beth_usda@hotmail.com

All resumes will be posted on the NW Area website by May 1, 2012.  The voting will be on Sunday, June 25, 2012 in Coos Bay.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the new year.

Thank you.

Survey:  Self-Contained RVs and FMCA

Self-Contained RVs have been and continues to be a hot topic for many members.  Andy Balogh, Vice President for our NW Area, is requesting our input on this issue.   I want to ensure that the wishes of the NWTFC are met at the National Level.  At our last two Area business meetings in Albany, Oregon and Lacy, Washington, Andy asked the delegates if they had any problems with inviting RVs other than motor homes to our Area Rallies.  At both meetings, we delegates voted unanimously to allow all Self-Contained RVs to attend.  However, there may have been some that were apprehensive; therefore, Andy is asking for our input.

The National Executive Board, via a conference call last year, elected to allow self-contained RVs at the Indianapolis Reunion this summer.  This decision was made based on the ample parking and as a revenue generator for the Association.  It is felt that the attendance numbers for this event will be down.  Since the Governing Board meeting in Madison last summer, there has been some discussion in other areas to again bring up the issue to investigate having a class of FMCA membership for vehicles other than motor homes.

As your FMCA representative, I would appreciate getting your input regarding how you feel about Self-Contained RVs participating in FMCA events.  I should point out that extending full membership to vehicles other than motor homes would require a change to both the bylaws and constitution of FMCA.  Extending partial membership with limited benefits would require a change to the FMCA bylaws only.  Neither of these changes, however, should be a reason to not allow membership.

Under existing FMCA bylaws, a Member Emeritus/Family Associate may be allowed by a chapter to maintain affiliation with the chapter and attend in a vehicle other than a motor home.  The limits to this membership class are that they are not eligible to vote or hold office in a chapter.

Please respond by answering the following questions:

Allow self-contained RV families to join FMCA:

  1. As a Family Member with full benefits and voting privileges:                               Yes____   No____

  2. As a "Self-Contained" Member with full benefits only:                                          Yes____  No____

  3. As a "Self-Contained" Member without National Voting rights:                           Yes____  No____

  4. As a "Self-Contained" Member without Area/Chapter voting privileges:           Yes____  No____

  5. Allow Self-Contained RVs to attend FMCA events without joining FMCA:        Yes____  No____

  6. If Self-Contained RVs are allowed to become members of FMCA, would you continue to be an active member of FMCA?           Yes____  No____

Please provide your input to me at ortreker@yahoo.com by April 1st so I will know our collective NWTFC position prior to our April NW Area Business Meeting.

Thank you advance for your input and comments.
