Cathlamet
Rally March 18, 19,
20 – 2005 |
| 2005 is off to a great start with our
first rally of the year. 20
coaches gathered at Cathlamet, Washington, a historic town settled in
1846, on the Columbia River. |
|
Wagon Master Ron Rawson organized the weekend at the new campground at the
Elochoman Slough Marina. We
were the first group to use the new Port of Cathlamet facilities at the
Marina and participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the city
officials. The small,
charming town has an interesting museum, historic buildings, unique shops,
a glass-blowing studio and friendly and welcoming townspeople. The town is easy walking distance from the campground.
|
| 10 coaches arrived at the campsite on
Thursday, the 17th, and an impromptu St Patrick’s Day potluck
dinner and fellowship was enjoyed in the covered picnic area. By
Friday, we had 20 coaches, including 2 new member coaches, Gene and Carole
Nemish and Ken and Helen Anderson. Helen
couldn’t join us this time, but her mother, Rozy, accompanied Ken. A new member who joined just before the rally, Lucian and
Eileen Eddy, arrived in their new Trek –on their very first trip in it! |
| Rob and Lisa Olmstead, who are still
shopping for their first Trek, visited during the day on Friday.
Ron Rawson introduced them to various members and showed them
around the Treks. |
|
Friday night’s “heavy hors d’ oeuvres” was in reality a super
spread of great food. After
dinner, the club presented our webmaster, who created our great website,
with a barbeque donated by Great American RV.
Jeanette Block, who designed a beautiful logo for the club was
presented with a pair of insulated, brass-trimmed coffee mugs, donated by
FMCA. A “best dressed
potato” contest was won by Maxine and Russell Warren (Best
Representative of St. Patrick’s Day) and Barb and Bob Brown (Best of
Show). There were 14 very
cleverly decorated potatoes!!! |
| Saturday was cold and rainy, but we
still had a great time visiting with old and new friends.
The fresh Columbia River salmon barbequed dinner was excellent. |
| Sunday morning, after a delicious
continental breakfast, Mike Bronzini, of Brazels RV Performance, was to do
a seminar on Trek steering and suspension. Unfortunately,
they got lost and by the time they arrived, most Trekkers were on the
road. They did help a few
Trekkers with problems they were having and made some appointments for
their shop. |
| Most of us headed home then. A few coaches stayed on another day, or took advantage of the
location to tour nearby areas. |
