Burlington
Rally Feb. 17 – Feb. 20, 2006 |
As an "unstructured" rally, some members
enjoyed morning swims in the inviting Burlington KOA pool. . .
others, trail walks in the brisk air. A group of women headed
for the LaConner Quilt Museum & lunch at Palmer's, and took
advantage of specialty store sales --- while some of the guys
found a good micro-brew nearby; and others headed for Camping
World, Costco, and the Skagit Casino. A dozen couples carpooled
to the casino Saturday evening to enjoy the prime rib dinner
buffet. A few members who came without coaches stayed in
cabins. As forecast, night temps fell into the teens and Jack
Frost painted car windows!
At the KOA's hall, wagon masters, Penny
Braden & Ben Paschall, kept the welcome going -- with a warm
meeting place & fresh coffee, tea, etc. Camaraderie thrived at
nightly happy hours, three fine potlucks, & visiting each others
Treks -- including a new '06 29RBD Trek on its first outing.
Donna Weibel , our historian, displayed the club scrapbook,
and Jeanette Block set up our Chapter Fair board & photo display
for the FMCA International Convention in Pomona, CA -- also a
bulletin board displaying the business
meeting information. Jeanette brought NWTFC logo pins & logo
embroidered items that quickly sold. . .bucket hats, ball caps,
tote bags, & aprons.
The board, with all '06 officers, met for its first meeting
of the year, followed by a general meeting/rally planning after
lunch with a quorum of the membership. President, Ed Block,
presented the wagon masters, past officers & committee
chairmen with FMCA gifts in thanks for a job well
done. A "standing rules" amendment re: election procedure
dates, passed unanimously. Minutes taken by Secretary, Barb
Brown, will be posted on our website. The rally guidelines had
been carefully updated by Rally master, Dean Weibel, approved by
the Board & were presented at the meeting along with a
helpful flow chart. These will also be posted on the club
website. Ron Rawson announced a 2-week Sept./Oct. "rolling"
rally he & Ginny are planning throughout B.C.'s Okanogan wine
country, and new members, Roland & Suzan Williams, stated a
desire to host a Skagit Tulip Festival rally in Washington,
early spring '07. All attending signed a large club logo to
present to the campground office.
