Thursday arrive, set up camp, pot luck dinner.

Friday free morning or early morning hike TBA, Afternoon tour of Thunderbird Lodge ($39.00 for tour includes shuttle from Incline Village to lodge). The lodge gives a glimpse into the “old Tahoe lifestyle” built by George Whittel who built the fabulous wooden yacht, the Thunderbird, which may be in the boat house. Dinner on your own.



Saturday-morning free, leave midday for historic Virginia City for the 35 min. steam train trip (approximately$10.) to see where silver was mined, afterwards self guided walking tour of old Virginia City. Head to Gardnerville for Basque dinner at JT’s-average $25/per person (includes soup, salad, veggie, bread, French fries, entree and wine).

 



Sunday coffee, juice and donuts, church in area. Drive to to Truckee (approximately 45 min. drive) for a visit to Donner State park on the shores of Donner Lake. Visit museum with a docent. Possible short hike around park and/or drive up old Highway 40 for more history of the area, picnic at Donner Lake, take dogs for a swim, then into old town Truckee to browse, shop, wine taste. Dinner at RV park or pizza nearby. Group campfire.



Monday free morning or start early for a hike down to Emerald Bay to see Vikingsholm . Two mile round trip hike, on the steep side. Tour one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture in the country ($5.00). Only access is on foot.

 

 

Late afternoon board the Tahoe Queen for a lake tour ($39) destination Emerald Bay (boat doesn’t dock). Departure is across the road from RV park.

 


Return to park for barbeque, bring meat to grill and salad or desert to share. Campfire and camaraderie. Still looking for something to do visit the casinos down the road.

Just a few things to do while visiting Lake Tahoe. Nearby is Reno, the Pacific Rim Trail, famous Flume mountain. bike trail, Sand Harbor, golf courses, restaurants,
small museums, more hikes than you will ever need.

Tuesday head for home or other destinations.
